ABSOLUTE

Expensive raw material because it is very concentrated, very pure and extremely fragrant. It is obtained by washing the concrete or resinoid with alcohol to eliminate the waxes they contain and which make them unusable in alcoholic preparations.

ACCORD

Multiple perfume notes or ingredients that are combined to produce a unique third fragrance that smells like something else entirely.

ALDEHYDE

Term invented by a German chemist, Baron Von Liebig. Contraction of the words "alcohol" and "dehydrogenatum". Large family of synthetic products sometimes derived from nature, known for their strong intensity and for providing a clean smell to the compositions, for example: aldehyde c12 mna: smell of mandarin and bitter orange.

CONCRETE

The flowers which are placed in this mixture are then regularly replaced until the fat is absolutely saturated with perfumes.

EXTRACT

Multiple perfume notes or ingredients that are combined to produce a unique third fragrance that smells like something else entirely.

EXTRACTION

The most stubborn and odorous product in a range, but also the most expensive. The extract is a concentrated composition of 20% to 40% essential oils in almost pure alcohol at 90° or 95°.

It generally contains 20% top notes, 30% middle notes and 50% base notes. Its scent remains faithful and lasts for many hours.

It is the supreme luxury of modern perfumery.

Extraction is a method which consists of letting plant materials infuse in water and solvent heated to 60°. To carry out this operation, perfumers use different types of solvents. When the mixture is heated, the solvents evaporate little by little until all that remains is a kind of wax called “concrete”. The latter is then mixed with a dose of alcohol which is heated to eliminate the oily part. Once purified of the plant components and the waxes it contains, the concrete becomes what we call the absolute.

HEAD NOTE

At the top of the olfactory pyramid, we find the smells that give the first impression of perfume.

They are made up of the freshest, most volatile notes, which escape after the first, even more ephemeral scents of alcohol.

Examples of top notes: citrus, green notes, aquatic notes, aquatic notes...

HEART NOTE

The first smells upon vaporization.

Of medium tenacity, the heart notes are driven by the top notes. Once applied, it takes 15-20 minutes to fully experience these notes.

Examples of heart notes: flowers, aromas and fruits.

BOTTOM NOTE

Characterizing the notes that linger longest on the skin, base notes serve as a base to enhance the other components of the perfume and give it tenacity and persistence.

Examples of base notes: amber, musk, wood, spices...
